Why is industry involved in medical education and learning?

The involvement of the pharmaceutical industry in learning activities remains controversial. On the one hand the industry keeps abreast of some of the latest advances in therapeutic interventions and has unique insights into the future educational needs as these therapies become available; on the other hand, the involvement of industry is seen as frankly promotional. Where does the balance lie? The faculty experts will provide their perspectives on the topic and take questions. Participants will be invited to provide their opinions during this open discussion workshop.
